Meet the Doctor

Dr. Oubre

Dr. Oubre is originally from Louisiana. He received his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine at New Orleans and completed his general residency at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.  He went on to do a General Surgery residency at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, California.

He practiced privately as a surgeon and as an emergency physician before becoming a Christian in 1985. He went to Cameroon with North American Baptist mission, then came back to the States to complete a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Rehabilitation Branch of the National Hansen’s Disease Program (leprosy) in Carville, Louisiana. From 1988 to 2001, he worked as a missionary doctor with The Medical Centers of West Africa, Inc., Hopital de Meskine, Chad.  He then accepted a position as the International Medical Director of The Voice of the Martyrs, an organization that serves Christians all over the world who are persecuted and tortured for their faith. 

Now he serves as the president of Cutting Edge Foundation, founded in Staunton, Virginia, in 2002.  Its mission is to reach Muslims for Christ, as well as helping Christians rebuild after Muslim attack. The foundation is concentrating efforts on building a hospital and medical center in D’jamena, Chad.  Over his years in the mission field, he has helped establish 3 mission hospitals from the ground up.  The one in Meskine is now 130 beds.
